Kathy Pender MA, LPCC

Kathy was born in the Cleveland area and grew up with two brothers and a sister. She lives in the area with her husband. She has three adult children (one deceased) and five grand children who also live in the Cleveland area.

Kathy is presently in private practice as a psychotherapist specializing in chemical dependency, co- dependency, sexual abuse, and post traumatic stress. She also does bereavement therapy and has facilitated groups for families and children who have experienced the loss of a family member.

Kathy has been involved in numerous community boards and volunteer activities in the mental health field over the years. She has been a volunteer for Hospice of the Western Reserve working with families who have a child who is dying. She also has been a volunteer facilitator for bereaved widows and widowers. Kathy has been a Stephen Minister and Stephen Minister leader at her church.

Presently Kathy serves on several boards in the community: Executive Board and VP of board at Beech Brook, Executive Board and VP of board at Magnolia Clubhouse, The Gathering Place and the program committee, the Leadership Council at Rainbow Babies and Children and co -chair of “Champions of Hope”, Leadership Council for the Children’s Hospital at The Cleveland Clinic, the Advisory Council to the Psychiatry Department at UHHS and CWRU, and the board of the Institute for Research on Unlimited Love.

Kathy’s interests are reading, writing, exercise, philanthropic endeavors, and being with her family and friends.
