Health and GivingDear Friends:
Here is a Thanksgiving Day cover feature about health and giving in the Cleveland Plain Dealer/Cleveland.com by a fine writer, Gretchen Kroen, who is well known for covering health and psychology. She features our research going back to 2003 when we first started engaging with the theme of kind giving, health and well-being. The theme has come a long way, and an early article on this from 2005 in the International Journal of Behavioral Medicine enjoyed a citation index of nearly 1,400. It played a significant role in the UK where the National Health Service initiated "Social Prescribing." Enjoy, and check out the websites that Gretchen lists, including www.StephenGPost.com and www.stonybrook.edu/bioethics. This topic was the basis of our earliest best-selling popular book Why Good Things Happen to Good People: How to Live a Longer, Healthier, Happier Life by the Simple Act of Giving. We were the early birds, thanks of course to everyone's great mentor, Sir John Templeton, who passed away in 2008. Wishing you inner peace during the holiday season!
