October 30, 2021 Helping You Understand the Mental and Physical Benefits of Helping OthersDear Friends, Listen to Stephen G. Post's recent interview across Philadelphia on why it's good to be good, a theme that has always been primary in the research and writing of his Institute. This work, which began for Stephen in the mid-1990's, has had tremendous influence worldwide. For example, in the UK the National Health System has a huge national program called "social prescribing," funded by millions of pounds. Those folks acknowledge on calls that their work has been built in significant part around our work, including Why Good Things Happen to Good People: How to Live a Longer, Healthier, Happier life by the Simple Act of Giving (Random House, 2007). Next week, on November 5, I will be doing a national radio program across Canada through the Canadian Red Cross. In England now, you can even get a certificate in social prescribing! Here is the 2005 article that has been cited now more than 1000 times, and the more recent summary won "article of the year" in 2017. Thanks for your support over the years. Stephen G. Post, PhD, President [[trackingImage]] |
